A train is just leaving Alresford, eastbound for Ropley. The locomotive is No 31806, a Class 'U' 2-6-0, which has an interesting history. Having been built as a 2-6-4T in 1926 at Ashford, it was rebuilt as a 2-6-0 at Brighton in 1928.
