This pub and the adjoining Georgian houses date from about 1800. Originally a coaching inn it was probably purpose-built. It was for a short time called the Crown & Anchor. This must have been a bit confusing, because there was another pub of the same name in the town:- Image At the far right of the building can be seen the outline of an arch, now partially bricked up. This was the entrance to the pub's former stable yard. In 1855 a horse drawn omnibus left the pub several times a week to go to Worcester via Ombersley. The building to the right of the pub, on the corner of High Street, is now a Subway sandwich shop. Until a couple of years ago it was Beards, the town's last radio & electrical shop.
