Fremington Training Camp is located on the Taw Estuary five miles to the west of Barnstaple. The Camp was built in 1943 to accommodate American wounded evacuated from France after D-Day. In 1944 it became the School of Combined Operations. In the early 1970s it became a Training Camp. It is now also used as a film location.
