This is the Weaste tram stop on the Manchester Metrolink. At the approaches to each stop in Eccles New Road, both tram lines are swung from the centre of the road to the side, so that they can run between the specially constructed platforms. The Manchester system is not a low-floor one. Opposite the tram stop, on the right in this view, is the former tram and bus depot of Salford Corporation Tramways. Since this photo was taken in May 2000, the interior of the building has been gutted and rebuilt, to provide apartments. The facade on this side has survived.
