Midland Metro tram no. 16 in Bilston Road

One of the 16 trams running on the Midland Metro, all built by Ansaldo in Italy. The trams were delivered late and as a result the line did not open until 1999. All these vehicles will be replaced in a few years time with a new fleet of trams, which will be longer and accommodate more passengers. Meanwhile the Ansaldo vehicles are gradually being repainted silver and pink.
