The photo was taken from Winchester Avenue, at the Springfield side of the bridge. After crossing the River Carron here, the footpath continues, between fields, towards Denovan Road, as shown at Image The bridge appears, looking much the same, in old photos of Denny taken circa 1900 ["Denny and Dunipace – views from the past", Falkirk District Council]. See also Image It was fortunate that I took this photograph when I did; the bridge was damaged beyond repair by storms in 2010. A replacement bridge, which looks fairly similar to this one, but which is a single-span structure, was lowered into place here in 2012.
