Emmaus Primary, is a joint Roman Catholic/Church of England School. Liverpool is at the frontier of ecumenical schooling largely because of the historic bond between the late Catholic Archbishop Derek Worlock and his Anglican counterpart, the late David Sheppard, Bishop of Liverpool. This first combined Catholic and Anglican school was built in an area of new housing in Croxteth Park (the largest housing estate in Europe) and was planned from the start as a joint primary school.
