Devonshire Place is a busy road and car parking area leading to the town centre. The Statue is of William Cavendish the 7th Duke of Devonshire who largely saw the development of Eastbourne through until his death in 1881. His achievement was outstanding and the Statue at the top of Devonshire Place confirms the admiration the people of Eastbourne had for him.
