The North Euston Hotel was conceived as a staging post between London and Scotland at a time when it was thought that railways would never be able to get through the Cumbrian fells. Passengers would stay here before boarding the boat north. It's the background for 'Centenary' car 644 which has set down its passengers before pulling round to the ferry. This scene may well be a thing of the past.
