Looking squarely into the sun across the corner of Blandford and Lake Roads, we see this post office, named to distinguish it from the former Hamworthy Post Office further southeast, which has served the area since early 1926. Hamworthy Junction is the former name of Hamworthy railway station, a little northwest, when the branch line down the Hamworthy peninsula was operational.
