Not, as it appears, a double track merging into a single line, the rail to the left is one of two branches into the Merehead Limestone Quarry, the other leaves about half a mile further on (behind the camera) forming a triangular junction. The "main" line continued to Shepton Mallet and beyond until it was closed at Cranmore. The small blip on the horizon to the right is Alfred's Tower Image
