The caption beneath the Tablet reads "The wooden tablet sent by the Incorporated Church Building Society, recording its grant, awarded in 1905, and paid in 1909, towards the re-seating of Llanfihangel Rhos-y-corn Church. It was a condition of payment of the grant for the tablet to be displayed in perpetuity in a conspicuous position in the church, often near the entrance" Which this is. One wonders how many such tablets were sent to churches by the Society that have survived for a century.
