The extremely dry conditions are proving a headache for autumn cereal sowing's in this part of England (East Midlands/West Anglia) Six weeks of continuous dry weather has sucked any residual moisture from the ground. A hefty soaking is required pretty soon. The tractor is pulling a Cambridge ring roll which is about the only implement that makes any impression in such conditions. Ashton Wold is the woodland in the background.
