Instead of a menu the White Horse displays a 'barred' notice outside its door with the words 'We hereby give notice that Alastair Darling, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is barred from this pub until further notice'. Government policy increasing taxes on alcoholic drinks has not been popular with the licensed trade at a time when many pubs are struggling to survive.
