This silo on the old Trimpell site (see Image) was presumably used by ICI who produced fertilizer and explosives here. It bears a strong resemblance to a phosphate storage silo on the old ICI site at Billingham (visible in Image), which is claimed to be the oldest of its type, and is a listed building. The fertilizer plant closed in the 1980s and has been demolished.
