The rather colloquial sounding name of the town square in the centre of the town is of uncertain origin. An inscription on the concrete monument in the centre of the picture suggests that the town has been locally nicknamed Bucky-Doo for generations, while there are a few theories here: http://www.westbay.co.uk/bridport/history.php
