There has probably been a Church in Dittisham for over a thousand years - indeed, the Rectors since 1224 are listed - however the present church dates from the fourteenth century. In 1982, St. George's was no longer able to retain its own a rector and is now part of the Benefice of Dartmouth and Dittisham.
