I am grateful to the lady who buttonholed me while I was taking this picture for the following information. The corner shop belies its age, dating from 1773 Image The tree behind has a tree preservation order attached, but even so has narrowly avoided being cut down. It is a mature walnut tree and apparently attracted too many squirrels for the previous owners. The lady said that the new owners are more sympathetic! This is part of the Chilwell Conservation Area.
