'Lousia Cottages', a row of tudoresque almshouses designed by architect William Huckvale (1848-1936) for retired workers from the Rothschild Estate. Located at the corner of Park Road and Akeman Street, the cottages were built in 1893 and 1901. In the background can be seen the roof of the Natural History Museum at Tring. Also a Huckvale design, the Museum was opened in 1892 to house Lionel Walter Rothschild's thousands of mounted mammals, birds, butterflies and moths, and his impressive library. The Museum was gifted to the nation in 1937.
