A museum of local history and of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, recommended as well worth a visit on several websites. Unfortunately its opening hours as displayed on the banner did not suit our travel plans. The thatched building dates from around 1811 and was built by Matthew Lee Yates, a ship owner. He is said to have added the turret so that he could see his ships arriving.
