This is a temporary warning sign at the entrance to Joan Beech Wood. Another notice nearby (difficult to photograph as it was wrapped round a narrow post) explained that the work was to "harvest and thin out planted pines ... to restore natural and diverse habitats for wildlife and expose ancient earthworks on the hillside".
