The road which peels off to the right is a steep 1:4 climb up what is known locally as whitegate hill. The main road in the picture is the A1039,this road starts at the A64 roundabout and terminates at a T-junction on the main A165.One curious point i noticed when compiling this picture was that this road then picks up once again as the A1039 only after you have travelled 500yds along the main A165, it has a circuit of Filey town before taking visitors back out of filey where it joins another roundabout on the A165 again .The A1039 is the only road both in and out of Filey. Having lived in Filey i know that this can cause problems ,over the last few years Filey has gotten a notorious reputation for flooding and this road floods on both of the joining roundabouts, effectively marooning people in the town and unable to get either in or out by normal vehicles .
