As loyal North Britons, residents of this part of Edinburgh seem to have eschewed the vernacular in favour of an anglicised spelling for the name of this point in the north-west corner of the old burgh muir. Actually, the builder of the late-Victorian tenement was probably to blame. The name was taken from Burghmuirhead proper which lies a little further south beyond Holy Corner.
