The name of the field according to the 1843 tithe map and formerly part of Ditchling Park, a deer park that dates back to the time of Alfred the Great when he used it as a stud farm, that was disparked in the late 16th century. Taken just after sunrise with the northern scarp slope of the South Downs in the background.
