The Air-Rail Link connects the airport terminal with Birmingham International rail station every two minutes. I learn from Wikipedia that it was originally a 'mag-lev' vehicle. It was abandoned in 1995 due to high cost and problems sourcing spare parts. Its rather quaint replacement, opened in 2003, is operated by a cable and pulley system. Behind it is the original black glass-clad Novotel hotel, with the new Ibis/Etap hotels beside it. The fairly new multi-storey car park No 1 appears, left. Seen from short/medium stay car park 3.
