The name of the field according to the 1839 tithe map. Formerly part of The Broyle, a medieval deer park that also had common rights, that was enclosed in 1767. The original field was bounded by Green Lane, Harvey's Lane and The Broyle, now the B2192, but has since been subdivided with some plots built upon with the consequence that this part of the former field is now a garden belonging to Chapel Cross. The hedgerow on the right gives an idea of the former boundary. Highfield Farm can be seen in the distance the South Downs beyond. The morning dew is still evident on the grass.
