An 18th century house that overlooks the village green. Its most famous resident was Timothy the tortoise written about by Gilbert White the naturalist whose aunt lived here in the 1770s and 80s. When she died White took the tortoise to live with him and when Timothy died the shell was preserved and currently resides in the Natural History Museum in Kensington. The house today is a retirement home.
