This location is certainly not the first 'posting', as it were, for this box, for it dates from the reign of George V, when this whole area would have been heathland. It is now a vast 1970s housing estate, although substantial heathland area remains to the north. The postbox is emptied finally at 5:30pm on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays. There are also two drop boxes (see below) here, one attached to the postbox and one opposite.
