Towards the end of the 19th century Leamington Corporation recognised the need for more public open space for its growing resident population. The Eagle Recreation Ground was laid out in 1898 to serve the town south of the River Leam. In recent years the local community has secured lottery grants for major improvements to this much-loved park, including several ornamental archways designed by local people.
