The smartly painted facade of this pub sadly also shows how Ward's Brewery of Sheffield is a thing of the past. Brewing started on Ecclesall Road in 1840, being acquired by Ward's in the 1870s. The brewery was taken over by Vaux in 1972 and brewing ceased on 2nd June 1999. Their bitter was excellent, but now the name of Ward's is being painted out of history . . .
