Opposite view of Image with the entrance to North Road at the end of the yard. Opened in 1870 on the site of an old army barracks to provide bathing facilities for the local working classes in the North Laine area. Baths were in the shape of a slipper hence the name and users were allowed to soak in one for up to 30 minutes. It closed in 1976 and has now been converted into a nursery.
