Looking north-eastwards, downhill towards the Guildford Golf Club's clubhouse and Merrow village centre. There was a Merrow racecourse in this vicinity in Victorian times, today it is used for walking and golfing. The dip slope of the North Downs has much cloying, thick London clay.
