The station dates from 1862. Currently the typical weekday timetable shows 9 non-stop trains a day to London Paddington, with a cluster in the early morning. The trains are operated by First Great Western with an average scheduled journey time to London of about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I hasten to add that the young lady on the left side platform was waving to her friend on the opposite platform and not at the photographer.
