Bench mark on the viaduct in New Crane Street

This bench mark, at the bottom left hand corner of the blue sign, is on the central support of the railway viaduct between the two carriageways of New Crane Street. There are a series of bench marks on the viaduct alongside the racecourse. At some time the entire viaduct has been re-pointed using this seemingly excessive technique.
