It looks as if it is some years since these sheep handling pens were used. The circular holding pen has two gates which swivel on a circular post. By swinging these round, sheep would have been forced to jump into the narrow deep trough filled with sheep dip mixed with water. The sheep then swam towards the camera to climb onto the stepped ramp and into the draining pen. The fleece got impregnated with chemicals which killed ticks and keds and prevented fly strike.
