When the new church was built the font from the ancient timber framed chapel was installed here. The font may have originated at the ancient St Thomas' church in Great Malvern. After the reformation the villagers bought the priory church as their parish church allowing the old font to go to Newland which had been a dependency of Great Malvern Priory. Could it be that William Langland, the poet who wrote the vision of Piers Plowman over 6 centuries ago could have been christened in this very font?
