Dalhousie Castle

The fortress was originally built by the de Ramsay family, an English family of Norman descent, in the 12th century. The barrel shaped part of the structure was added in the 15th century with further additions made in the 1600s. Edward I of England stayed at the castle on route to combat the troops of William Wallace at Falkirk in 1297. Dalhousie Castle is now an hotel and spa.
