The rector of this parish church for the years 1571 to 1591, was reprimanded for being a "disturber of peace, a swearer, a dicer, a carder,a hawker and a hunter". He was once jailed for fighting and injuring another parson, that of the village of Stock. When he died, he was awaiting trial for counterfeiting.
