Crazy cycle lane, Ipswich hospital

It's not difficult to find totally stupid cycle lanes, and this is just one of them. Cyclists leaving the hospital are confronted by a sign that declares the lane has ended. What are they supposed to do? Dematerialise? Or fly like ET? Yet there is another cycle lane alongside those railings that could be connected to this one. You don't see a lot of Porsches in Ipswich.
