Looking south at the north side of Alnwick's former railway station, showing the vehicle entrance from the Alnmouth road. The building is now the home of Barter Books (one of the UK's largest secondhand bookshops) and other businesses. The original station was built in 1850 but was replaced in 1887 by this much grander building. The station closed to rail traffic in 1968 when services on the branch line from Alnmouth were withdrawn.
