Major Music was established in 2000 to satisfy the interest of young people of the Vale of Glamorgan in learning about modern instruments, vocals and "DJ-ing" skills. It became a registered charity in 2004. Initially catering for 11 - 18 year olds it later offered opportunities to 8 - 11 year olds as Minor Music. Both provide young people with access to a variety of musical instruments including guitars, drums and keyboard and benefit from the services of a number of volunteers providing music and vocal tuition as well as mentoring. A recording studio is provided at Llantwit Major Youth Centre that can be made available to other young people, community groups and other organisations across the Vale of Glamorgan. This photograph was taken at a Victorian Fair day when, as a very old rocker, I have to say that it was good to see one group of youngsters belting out Johnny B Goode as good as many renditions I have heard!
