This is the former lodge to Colley House, whose driveway is on the left of the photo. Both the cottage and the wall in front date from around 1840 and are locally listed. The susceptibility of Reigate Stone to severe flaking when used as an external building stone is clear from the eroded surface of the wall, although historically it was much used, including significant quantities in both the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace - see http://www.hrp.org.uk/aboutus/whatwedo/buildingconservation/Profilereigatestone.aspx.
