Provan Hall is usually regarded as the best-preserved mediaeval fortified country house in Scotland. The north range of Provan Hall, the part in the foreground of the photograph, was probably built in the 1460s, which would mean it was built about ten years earlier than Provand's Lordship, usually considered to be Glasgow's oldest house.
