This was one of two brand-new cars which Leeds ordered to evaluate its tram subway proposals. No 602 incorporated many modern features and was smooth and fast on its rubber-insert wheels. But when the subway plans were dropped it became an embarrassment, and was relegated, like 600, to the short Hunslet route. This car is preserved at the National Tramway Museum, Crich.
