This pretty stretch of the Roding often floods the surrounding fields at times of heavy rain. This must have given great power to the old watermill hidden in this picture behind the large tree near the centre. Built in the 18th century of timber framed and weatherboarded construction, it is now rather sadly looking a bit dilapidated. See John Winfield's picture Image
