In the car park of The Blue Bell Inn and hidden behind a hedge it reads; on the south face, Catterick 21, Piersbridge 32 1/2, Cretabridge 36, and on the north face, Borobridge 1, London 203. This spot on the Great North Road is said to be exactly half way between the capitals of Scotland and England.
