The fence here enclosed some 8 acres of wonderfully full and varied habitat. Quoting from a notice here: "This fence has been erected to allow a variety of plants to thrive and set seed free from risk of damage by sheep, cattle or deer. Encouraging a natural mixture of grasses, heather, wetland plants and trees will benefit wildlife both here and further downstream. By taking the land out of agricultural production and helping to restore a corridor of native woodland and natural vegetation up the glen alongside the burn, the owners are also improving the environment for the general public."
