Aberdeen's main thoroughfare has lost its commercial supremacy over the years as shopping malls have been built in neighbouring areas like George Street. Ground floor banks and shops still remain but space remains above to rent. There are now civic plans for another shopping mall on the old railway sidings by the bus station.
