This long-dead tree stands watch over the formation of a new pond by the A6102 at Deepcar. It has formed in a hollow right by the roadside at Town End, where a runoff channel passes under the road, and now has its own resident puddle-ducks. Either the runoff is blocked, or is not large enough to cope with the flow.
