Jarvis Bridge - Titford Canal

The Titford Canal provided access through the Titford Pools to the coal mines in the Rowley Hills. The Titford Pools were built in 1773-4 as a reservoir feeding the Birmingham Canal. The feeder was later widened into a canal in 1837 by the construction of the six flight Titford Locks. At 511ft this is the highest level on the Birmingham Canal Navigations. The bridge carries the main Birmingham to Wolverhampton dual carriageway.
